Title | Referee's report by Joseph Larmor, on a paper 'The measurements of temperature. Parts I-III' by Morris William Travers, George Senter and Adrien Jaquerod |
Date | 6 July 1902 |
Description | Sectional Committee: Physics and Chemistry
Recommended for publication in Philosophical Transactions, with modification. The copy needs to be corrected before it can be sent to press and it has been copied by a bad type-writer, and the result 'may not unreasonably be described as illiterate'. Makes the criticism that the experiments of others are amended or omitted in places, especially in the last appendix. The three papers should be combined in one memoir in three parts and to this the author's agree. All the illustrations should be reproduced if they are presented in an admirable form, but plate three should be a small cut in the text. In general notes part one is hardly more than a corroboration of the work of Chappuis and Onnes, but as such is welcome and useful. Parts two and three are important experimental contributions to the knowledge of the states of Oxygen and Hydrogen at low temperatures.
