Title | Memoranda from Robert William Frederick Harrison, and reply from Francis Darwin, on a paper 'Some new species of lagenostoma: A type of pteridospermous seed from the coal measures' by E A Newell Arber |
Date | 16 February 1905 |
Description | Harrison asks Darwin to look at the enclosed reports [presumably the referee's reports on Arber's paper, not attached], and if he thinks there is a case for a third referee, whether he can suggest a name for submission to the Botany Chairman, or if not whether Darwin can give his own opinion that can be sent on with the others.
In a reply dated 17 February 1905, Darwin states a third referee is unnecessary. The paper must go into the new Proceedings. The author should be asked to make the alterations suggested by Seward. It should be made clear that the alterations are distinctly asked for, rather than suggested.
