TitleReferee's report by Raphael Meldola, on a paper 'Nitrification in acid soils' by Alfred Daniel Hall, N H J Miller and C T Gimingham
Date[February 1908]
DescriptionSectional Committee: Botany

Recommended for publication in the 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society'. Notes that there is a precedent for publishing in the Royal Society journals the results of work undertaken at Rothamsted [Rothamsted Research], but wonders if the results would be more suited to an agricultural publication. Thinks it desirable that the Lawes Trust [Lawes Agricultural Trust] should publish their own results, much as they do their own 'Annual Reports'. Previously, research from Rothamsted published in the Philosophical Transactions was republished as 'Rothamsted Memoirs', but is unsure if this custom will continue under the Lawes Trust. If it does continue, might the Lawes Trust be asked to contribute towards the publication costs incurred by the Royal Society?
