Title | Referee's report by Frederick Frost Blackman, on a paper 'On a general consideration of the subaerial and freshwater algal flora of Ceylon' by Felix Eugen Fritsch |
Date | [July 1906] |
Description | Sectional Committee: Botany
Not recommended for publication in the 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society'. Observations are well arranged and are the first descriptions of their kind. However, the results are far too descriptive for the publication of the Royal Society, and are more suited for a purely botanical publication. Draws attention to poor grammar and punctuation. 'There are occasional lapses into slang and slovenly grammar'. 'The author's attention might well be drawn to the subject of punctuation, the elementary rules of which he consistently breaks. There must be several hundred commas and semicolons in quite inadmissible places'.
