Title | Letter from Arthur Schuster, regarding a paper 'A standard measuring machine' by P E Shaw |
Date | nd [1912] |
Description | Sectional Committee: Not stated [Physics and Chemistry]
Finds difficulty in coming to a conclusion regarding printing, as one report is favourable [Charles Vernon Boys, RR/19/125], one unfavourable [Henry Reginald Arnulph Mallock, RR/19/122], and one which is unclear [Bertram Hopkinson, RR/19/121]. If Bertram Hopkinson is correct, and that the machine is an advance on existing ones and may be valuable in future researches, there may be favour in publication. Admits to not having seen the paper, but is in general agreement with Charles Vernon Boys. If possible, would like to send Henry Reginald Arnulph Mallock's report to Charles Vernon Boys to see if this changes his opinion. Would like to consult Hicks [William Mitchinson Hicks?] before a definite decision is made by the Council. Hopes to bring Henry Reginald Arnulph Mallock and Charles Vernon Boys together for discussions.
