Title | Referee's report by Herbert Brereton Baker, on a paper 'The production of neon and helium by the electrical discharge' by John Norman Collie, Hubert Sutton Patterson and Irvine Masson |
Date | [August 1914] |
Description | Sectional Committee: Physics and Chemistry
Recommended for publication in the 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society'. The results of the experiments are currently unexplained. Refers to work of Strutt [John William Strutt, 3rd Baron Rayleigh?] and Merton [Thomas Ralph Merton?]. As the investigations are ongoing and the results unexplained, concurs with the Committee if the Proceedings is a better place for the paper. 'The whole question is one of the greatest interest and importance and something is bound to emerge sooner or later which will leave its mark'.
