TitleReferee's report by William Arthur Bone, on a paper 'Estimation of the combustion products from the cylinder of the petrol engine and its relation to "knock"' by Alfred Charles Glyn Egerton, F Ll Smith and Alfred Rene Jean Paul Ubbelohde
Date20 June 1934
DescriptionSectional Committee: Chemistry

No clear statement regarding publication in the 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society'. Considers the paper more suitable for an engineering or technical society. The experimental proceedure is open to criticism, especially in the chemical aspects. Suggests the authors use the more definite term 'oxidising substance' instead of the more general 'peroxide', and 'explosion' for 'detonation'. Suggests the authors be clearer about the chemicals used. The analyses are incomplete.
