TitleReferee's report by Archibald Vivian Hill, on a paper 'The effects of prolonged muscular exercise on the metabolism' by F C Courtice and Claude Gordon Douglas
Date4 November 1935
DescriptionSectional committee: Physiology

Recommended for publication in Proceedings, in full. The paper is interesting and contain important results. The author 'must incidentally have walked many hundreds of miles in making the experiments. He ought to be very fit as a result'. It would be a pity to cut the paper up into several portions, as it reads continuously through. Putting it in the Philosophical Transactions would 'cramp its usefulness very much', as the Transactions wouldn't go to the people who would be interested in it. If it is not allowed to be published in Proceedings, it should instead be published in the Journal of Physiology. The paper shouldn't be condensed in any way, as this would make it less readable.

[Published in Proceedings of the Royal Society B, 1936].
