TitleSecond referee's report by Reginald Ruggles Gates, on five papers 'The external mechanics of the chromosomes I—The scope of enquiry', 'The external mechanics of the chromosomes II-Meiosis in diploids', 'The external mechanics of the chromosomes III-Meiosis in triploids', 'The external mechanics of the chromosomes IV—Abnormal mitosis and meiosis' and 'The External mechanics of the chromosomes V—The balance theory of mitosis' by Cyril Dean Darlington
Date[July 1936]
DescriptionSectional Committee: Botany

No clear statement regarding publication in the 'Proceedings of the Royal Society of London'. Criticises the use of 'n' for 'x'. The proposed alterations still leave the author open to claim a new discovery which is already well-known to cytologists. Suggests adding a reference to the work of the referee from 1909. Insists on seeing the terms of the corrections to be made.
