Title | Letter from the Secretary of the Royal Society, on two papers 'The diffraction of sound pulses I. Diffraction by a semi-infinite plane' and 'The diffraction of sound pulses II. Diffraction by an infinite wedge' by Frederick Gerard Friedlander to Geoffrey Ingram Taylor |
Date | 17 September 1940 |
Description | The Royal Society knows 'nothing at all' about the author and have made no recommendation to the Home Office for his release. It's possible that the secretary of the Universities Bureau of the British Empire has dealt with him, but he has tried phoning them but had no answer. It is possible that Benians sent the author's name to the secretary and that they have made an application to the Home Office. Advises him to ask Miss Simpson at the Society for the Protection of Science and Learning at Cambridge. If not application has been made, it is obvious that the Royal Society should make one.The application could still come to the Royal Society, as they are now getting regular notifications of releases in accordance with their recommendations. It may take a long time but should work. Perhaps Miss Simpson knows if the author has been sent to Ottawa or not or may be able to find out. He is forwarding the letter to Miss Simpson.
