TitleMemoranda, on a paper 'The summation of infinite harmonic series' by Frederick Soddy
Date20 November 1942
DescriptionSectional Committee: Mathematics

Recommended for publication in the 'Proceedings of the Royal Society of London'. Alfred Charles Glyn Egerton asks whether, in view of the report by Alexander Craig Aitken, the paper can be published in the Proceedings? The author has been asked for comments in response to the referee's remarks. Sydney Chapman responds 'If [Frederick Soddy] were other than he is, I should feel some hope of convincing him that in this time of paper shortage his paper, which is so tepidly praised by [Alexander Craig Aitken], might well wait till some mathematical journal would accept it. As it is, I should offer no objection if the Secretaries think it fit to print the paper on [Alexander Craig Aitken]'s report'.
