TitleSecond letter from Robert Holford Macdowall Bosanquet, to George Gabriel Stokes, regarding a paper 'On the Hindoo [Hindu] division of the octave, with some additions to the theory of the higher orders' by Robert Holford Macdowall Bosanquet
Date28 April [1877]
DescriptionHas received a copy of the book by François-Joseph Fétis 'Histoire Generale de la Musique Volume II' of 1869 via the Bodleian Library, and has now read the volume. Does not consider his paper to be superseded by the research in the volume as suggested by the referee. Suggests he add a reference to the volume into the paper, which he is happy to do, and if the referee would also consider this proper. Has drawn up a note to explain the reasoning of his opinions, which he hopes is 'in accordance with the usages of the Society'.
