AdminHistoryApproximately fifty scientists from twelve countries met on 9-11 October 1980 in Ithaca, New York to attend a symposium held to celebrate the 60th brithday of Thomas Gold. The symposium consisted of four public lectures, a number of scientific sessions and a banquet. Hermann Bondi gave a lecture on the 'Theory of gravitation' and Fred Hoyle gave a lecture on 'The steady state cosmology revisited'.
