DescriptionContains handwritten notes and equations by Thomas Gold, varying in date from Feb 1976 to Dec 1997. Some of the notes are for a lecture entitled 'The social value of science', 1976. Also contains two papers by Thomas Gold, 'The origin of hydrocarbons on the earth' and 'Theories of the origin of hydrocarbons on earth', one of which was probably given as a lecture in 1989 as part of the Milne Lecture series. Also includes a letter from Hermann Bondi and Miranda Weston-Smith, dated 3 May 1995, asking if the lecture he gave as part of the Milne Lecture series could be published as part of a book containing all the Milne Lectures. There are also two copies of a leaflet advertising a lecture Gold was giving on 5 November 1982 entitled, 'Abiogenic methane and the origins of petroleum'.
