Japan Prize presented by the Science and Technology Foundation of Japan, in the category of 'Global Change' for his original and outstanding achievements in science , acknowledging his pioneering research on atmospheric structure and composition based on his satellite observation technology and for promotion of international understanding of climate change, 2006
