Creator | Armstrong; William George (1810 - 1900); Baron Armstrong of Cragside; armaments manufacturer and industrialist |
Date | 17-22 April 1891 |
Description | Seeks Swinton's professional assistance dealing with Mr Killingworth [William] Hedges, civil engineer and pioneer in installation of lighting, correspondence with whom is appended, dated 17 April 1891, referenced as 5394. In the letter, Hedges informs he received a letter from Armstrong in which he mentions Swinton as conducting the technical part of Armstrong's defence to Hedges' claim that he has infringed his patent for working year & appliances in the arrangement he uses at Cragside for changing the speed of his dynamos from the house. Hedges requests that Swinton look into the matter for him as he wishes to settle it amicably, stating that both he and Lord Armstrong have been through a great deal of expense over the patent. Armstrong claims he was not aware of Hedge's patent until after his apparatus was completed. |
