States that the lighting at Alnwick was a little later than that, confirming Swinton's supposition that it was experimental and temporary. Unable to give particulars as to the lighting at Coombe Bank, stating Mr [William] Spottiswoode used it more or less from 1881. Surprised to learn about the house of Sir William Crookes, whose residence was also lit early on. |
