Title | Letter from [Alan Archibald Campbell] Swinton, to James M. Chadwick [Esquire], West Porlock House, Porlock, Somersetshire |
Creator | Swinton; Alan Archibald Campbell (1863-1930); British electrical engineer |
Date | 1 November 1927 |
Description | Informs that the only makers of small water turbines that he knows of are friends Gilbert Gilkes & Co, Canal Iron Works, Kendal, Westmorland. Old Gilkes is dead, but his business is still carried on. He is aware that leaves are a great trouble, and he has heard of rotary strainers in the form of cylinders, like squirrel cages, being employed to get rid of them. Emphasises that it has been many years since he had anything to do with turbines but believes that Drake & Gorham are worth trying. |
