TitleLetter from [Alan Archibald Campbell] Swinton, to Major Alan H. C. Swinton
CreatorSwinton; Alan Archibald Campbell (1863-1930); British electrical engineer
Date23 March 1928
DescriptionAcknowledges receipt of a previous letter. Mentions there was John Swinton, an FRS, who lived in the eighteenth century, who was Fellow of Wadham College, Oxford, and is buried in the Chapel there, but came from Cheshire where there was a family of Swinton in the time of Queen Elizabeth, who cannot have any connection with the Scottish family. Wonders if he can tell him what the name of the daughter of Thomas Swinton, who spent a holiday on the Swinton estate a few years before the war. Offers to show him the pedigree and some photographs of charters and other family matters, which he has collected. Informs he will send a copy of his letter to his brother who knows more about the family than he does.
