Title | Letter from [Alan Archibald Campbell] Swinton, to Robert Hadfield |
Creator | Swinton; Alan Archibald Campbell (1863-1930); British electrical engineer |
Date | 12 January 1928 |
Description | Acknowledges receipt of a previous letter and informs that Hadfield's visit to the Duke has been fruitful as Sir Malcolm Murray saw Mr Menzies. Reports that the Duke does not wish to personally intervene but rather that Sir Philip Magnus would see Lord Askwith and convey to him their views but failing that, the best course is to send the signed letter to Lord Askwith himself. Notifies he has seen Sir Philip Magnus on the matter yesterday, with Mr Menzies, but Sir Philip declined to see Lord Askwith and now objects to the letter, though he himseld suggested it a mere two weeks ago and gave them the draft in his own handwriting. Expresses frustration with Sir Philip's constant change of opinion and notifies that following deliberation with other signatories, it was decided that the letter should be sent to Askwith. Apologises that owing to the circumstances Hadfield's signature was missed out. |
