Title | Letter from [Alan Archibald Campbell] Swinton, to Mrs H. Fox. Adams, 23 Brunswick Square, Hove, Brighton |
Creator | Swinton; Alan Archibald Campbell (1863-1930); British electrical engineer |
Date | 4 May 1929 |
Description | Responding to a previous letter confirming he has been able to look at the houses in Grosvenor Crescent. Comments he has been a member of the Wellington Club since 1858. Refers to his letter in the Morning Post about a lightning incident from 40 years ago, which took place after she had left her residence at Grosvenor Crescent, adding that it appears the chimneys there have been rebuilt as there are no longer any distinct chimney posts, and No. 15 now has a flagstaff. Aware that a Mr. St. John was a member of the Wellington Club at the time of the incident and saw it too, but from the ground of the Club, and that it displaced a statuette. Wishes to hear more about her father building the Wellington Club as well as numbers 11 to 15 Grosvenor Crescent. |
