Title | Letter from [Alan Archibald Campbell] Swinton, to Lane Fox Pitt |
Creator | Swinton; Alan Archibald Campbell (1863-1930); British electrical engineer |
Date | 21 May 1929 |
Description | Acknowledges receipt of a previous letter and informs that in his communications with Edgcumbe, President of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, with a view to Fox Pitt's versus Swan's and Edison's claims. Comments that the matter has got into a muddle owing to Swan, after having joined the Edison Swan Company, having supported Edison's patent of his own, therefore being his financial interest to support Edison. Further states that the consequence is a pretty mess which will enable the Americans to say that British Courts held that Edison's patent was the first for incandescent carbon filament lamps, though this is not the case. Promises to keep in touch on the matter. |
