Creator | Eckersley; Peter Pendleton (1892-1963); first chief engineer of the British Broadcasting Company |
Date | 27 July 1928 |
Description | Thanks Swinton for sending a copy of his paper on Television. He is particularly greateful to Swinton for writing to the "Times" and putting across the scientific point of view before the public. Notes there has been a great deal of apathy on the part of people who do really know, supposing that a lot of technicians feel it is no business of theirs, commenting it would be much better if the whole thing had been nipped in the bud from the point of view of a service aspect, while offering encouragement to anyone who really had something that foundationally looked like working. Displeased that Baird and Hutchinson, inasmuch as they seem to be building on sand, as pointed out by Swinton, is not wrong in principle but in quantity. Invites Swinton to read his articles in the "Radio Times" where he argues that the value of the whole broadcasting business is seriously hampered by quantity. |
