Description | Williamson begins by providing a brief overview of existing research into the constitution of salts. He then describes an experiment in which powdered ethylate of soda is added to chloroform and distilled, and another in which sodium is dissolved in absolute alcohol before adding chloroform and more sodium before distillation. Williamson then analyses the distillate.
