| Description | The author, inspired by Mr White's work on the use of sponge to stem haemorrhages, and provides two of his own case studies of instances in which a sponge proved an effective styptic. The first case describes a woman who cut herself on glass, causing an arterial bleed in her arm that was poorly sewn together. The author applied sponge to it and the wound ultimately healed. The second describes a case of a man who fell from his horse, fracturing his tibia, causing a major haemorrhage. A sponge was again applied to the haemorrhage, and the wound recovered. An ink inscription verso reads 'Anonymous nor could I even find the author'. Minor corrections appear in ink throughout.
