Title | Letter from Claude Louis Berthollet, Arcueil to Charles Blagden |
Date | 20 June 1808 |
Description | Has written several letters to Blagden which perhaps he has not received. Since Davy opened up a new avenue of research they have been very busy, particularly with caustic potash [potassium hydroxide] and soda. Gay Lussac and Thenard have been set back in their work by an accident that happened during one of their experiments. Gives his opinion on the experiments. Often sees Mr Chenevix and his experiments on the combination of platinum and mercury. They still follow Blagden's chemical work but it is becoming more difficult, regrets that Blagden cannot come in person to clarify his research. |
