| Description | The committee to consider the magnetic and meteorological observations from the Antarctic Expedition met on 12 November 1903. They determined that the magnetic observations should be sent to the Royal Society, where a committee would be appointed to cooperate with the Admiralty to prepare the results for publication. Actual reduction of these observations would be undertaking by the Hydrographic Department. A similar committee should be formed to assist the Meteorological Office with preparing the meteorological results for publication, with [William Napier] Shaw and [Henry Newton] Dickson should be appointed as editors.
Shaw estimates the cost of the meteorological work would be £500 if the Stationery Office agrees to undertake publication of it, and the Meteorological Council would need a special grant to cover this work. Suggests an application should be made to the Treasury. A draft of a letter to the Royal Geographical Society, informing them of the above decisions, was also discussed. |
