Description | Belchier describes an accident that occurred on 15 August 1737 in which a 26-year-old man's arm and shoulder blade were torn off by a mill where he was working. The man's wound was stiched together and he was brought to St Thomas's Hospital the following day where he was under the care of Mr Ferne. Belchier also describes the state of the man's arm after its detachment.
