Summary of Recommendations to Council
Minute 3(b) - that consideration be given to a request from the Institute of Geological Sciences for a contribution from the Royal Society towards the cost of mounting the National Exhibit at the 24th International Geological Congress to be held from 20 - 30 Aaugust 1972 in Montreal, the cost of which would be £2900.
Minute 8 (c) - that the UK participants at the 9th INQUA Congress to be held in Neew Zealand in 1973 be authorized to extend an invitation to hold the 10th INQUA Congress (International Union of Quaternary Research) in the UK, either in London, Birmingham or Cambridge, in 1977. It was anticipated that approximately 1000 would attend and, in view of the development of quaternary research in the UK there would be much to see, particularly if the Congress was based on a University with an active quaternary school. If the invitation was accepted the INQUA Subcommittee should be asked to set up the necessary machinery for its organization. |
