It was agreed to hold the next meeting on 13 January 1977 at 2.30 pm.

Recommendations

Minute 1 (b) - That Dr S H U Bowie be appointed a Royal Society representative on the Committee, in place of Professor J G Ramsay, to serve until 31 December 1981

Minute 4
a. That the Royal Society delegate (Professor J Sutton) to the IUGS Council meeting in Sydney be instructed to vote
(i) Iin favour of the IUGS Executive Committee recommendation to acknowledge that the IUGS membership of the Geological Society of the Republic of China (Taiwan) as the representative of China as a Country was invalild;
(ii) In favour of the IUGS Executive Committee proposal to decrease the number of units from 60 to 50 and from 30 to 25 in the highest categories and ti increase the unit of contribution from 150 dollars to 200 dollars per unit with effect from 1 January 1977 thereby requiring an increase in the Royal Society's subscription (in category 7 with 25 units) to IUGS from 4500 dollars to 5000 dollars:
(iii) In favour of the Swedish proposal to amend the byelaws thereby requiring that national adhering organizations be consulted on candidates for officers of the IUGS;
(iv) In favour of IUGS retaining its existing rights in the aappointment of members of the Board for the International Geological Correlation Programme.
b. That the Royal Society delegate (Dr S H U Bowie) to the Council of the International Geological Congress meeting in Sydney (August 1976) be instructed to vote in favour of the invitation from France for the XXVI International Geological Congress.

Minute 6 - That Professor R G West be appointed the Royal Society delegate to the X INQUA Congress at Birmingham from 16 to 24 August 1977
