Ordered that the Society be summoned to meet again on the third of October.
Mr Oldenburg informed the Council that in the name of the Society, possession had been taken of Chelsey College on the 27 September, by Mr Charles Howard, Mr Ball, Mr Hook and himself,m and that two men were placed there to keep possession.
It was mentioned that a gardener, living at Little Chelsey, a married man, was willing to live int he College, and to take care of teh Society's concerns there. He was likely to be content with a very reasonable allowance.
Ordered that he should be spoken with by Mr Hook, who knew him.
Mr Charles Howard, whose presence at the Council had been particularly desired on this occasion, received the thanks of the Council for his favour of giving them a meeting and was desired to take such Order pro tempore about the House of Chelsey College, and particularly about getting it fitted for a housekeeper, as he should think fit.
Mention again being made of another Curator, consideration of it was referred to the next meeting of the Council.
Dr Wilkins moved that a Committee both of the Society and the Council might be discused for raising contributions among the members of the Society in order to build a College.
Ordered that Dr Wilkins should be asked to present to the Council at their nest meeting a list of such persons as he would think proper for that purpose, which he undertook to do. |
