Resolved that that there will be only one subject on which the Society proceeds as their main work till they are satisfied concerning that subject.
Within a reasonable time, such as a year, or as soon as they are satisfied it is brought to perfection something concerning ther progress shall be published.
In pursuing this programme one experiment shall be appointed by the Society at every meeting to be shown at the next meeting in prosecuting the subject chosen.
The members present when the experiment is appointed are asked to reserch others who have worked on the subject, to deliver what they have learnt and give their own opinion of it.
The first action at every meeting shall be the reading over of the notes of what was done the preceding meeting.
A distinct account and narrative of the experiment made the preceding day shall be brought in fair wrritten by the Curator at the next meeting and read before the Society, to see if the Society wishes it to be entered into the register book.
It was found that several experiments made before the Society in the last years have been entered only in the Journal Book and not in the Register Book, so it is ordered that all such experiments shall be transcribed from the Journal Book, and being first made perfect by the Curator, be entered into the Register Book.
Whoever is in the Chair on the last Thrusday in the month is to call the Secretary and the Amanuensis and see, if as well as the experiment being entered preoperly, then under the paper or Journal is endorsed as 'Entered'.
And at the same time that the Letter Books are to be viewed and checked that the letters appointed to be entered are entered.
The Secretary to have a small account of philosophical matters such as were the transactions by Mr Oldenburg and under the same title publilshed once a quarter at least. It is recommended this is done monthly, preferably, but quarterly at the very least.
Mr Hooke was asked concerning the undertaking of this matter, and he answered that he would see what he could do, but could not undertake as yet to do it absolutely. |
