Description | Present at a Council at the President's house: Sir Joseph Williamson, President; Sir Robert Southwell; Dr Holder; Mr Hill; Dr Crone; Dr Gale; Mr Hooke
Debated the new Atlas undertaken by Mr Pitt, and resolved that Mr Pitt should hold a meeting with the members of the Society who are concerned and named in that design, to give an account of the present progress of the work.
Dr Crone [Croone] presented a proposal from Mr Rossington concerning Chelsey College namely that he was willling to take a lease of the College and ground belonging to it being about 6 acres for 61 years, for £30 each year, in addition laying out substancial money for building upon the premises.
Proposed that further discussions take place with Mr Rossington, to provide £35 per annum rent for 61 years, but rather than break off with him to accept his exisisting proposal for £30 per rannum, only that it be insisted on that he lay out £2000 on substantial building at the least within two years and to give good security for it.
Recommended to Sir Christopher Wren, Mr Hill, Dr Crone, Mr Colwall, Dr Gale and Mr Hooke or any three of them to treat and agree with Mr Rossington accordingly.
Dr Crone presented a proposal form Mr Collins that he was ready to print two volumes of Algebra written by Dr Wallis, Mr Baker, Mr Newton etc provided the Society would engage to take sixty copies at a price per sheet. Ordered that Mr Collins be asked to make his proposal in writing and that the Society would then further consider encouraging the undertaking. |
