' The Treasurer took out of the strong Box two South-Sea Bonds to be returned when he shall have received the Interest.
Several Workmen's Bills for Work done in the Repairs of the Society's House in Coleman - Street, with an allowance to Mr Stedman as Surveyor; amounting in all to the Sume of £185.0.0 were put to the Ballot and ordered to be paid : as also Mr Stephen's a Locksmith's Bill, being £4.18.2 and Dr Stack's Bill amounting to £13.18
Dr Mortimer proposed to have a new way or passage through the Repository. Directed to speak to Mr Gwyn about it.
Mr Hauksbee reported that he had already writ to Mr Beighton, but had received no answer.
Mr Tyler reported that he had writ to Mr Roger Life for his Rent, but had received no answer.
A List of the several Members who are in arrear for their Contributions was delivered in by the Treasurer pursuant to an Order of Council. And being read over, and taken into consideration, it was resolved that the Statutes to enforce the payments for Contributions shall be put in Execution.
Ordered that a circulatory Letter with Blanks to be filled up and signed by the Clerk shall be printed, and sent to each Member who is more than one year in arrear of payment to Lady day last, signifying the Society's demands upon him.
Ordered that a printed Copy of the fifth article of the third Chapter of Statutes, and a printed Copy of these Orders and Resolutions, be sent with each Letter.
Ordered that the Letter shall be in the following Terms: "Sir By an Order of Council herewith annext, I am to acquaint you, that your arrears for Contributions at Lady Day last amountted to the Sume of .....
Statutes, Chap. 3. Art. 5 Every Fellow of the Society shall upon each of the weekly meetings that shall fall upon the days for the quarterly Payments, or upon the first, second or third Wednesday next after each of the said days, bring or send in to the Treasurer or his Deputy, his Quarterly Contribution of thirteen Shillings, or such proportion of it, as shall be due. And if any Fellow shall fail to bring or send in as aforesaid (being not dispensed withall, as to the said Payment, by special Order of the Council) he shall be liable to Ejection out of the Society : upon which the Council shall proceed, as they shall see Cause." '
