Minutes of last meeting read

Letter read by the President from the Spanish Ambassador, ' dated London 22 August 1766 signifying the consent of the King of Spain, that Father Boscovich and another Jesuit as his assistant might go to California to observe the transit of Venus 1769; provided that they go in a Spanish vessel. And it is the intention that some of His Catholic Majesty's subjects should accompany Mr Boscovich to profit by the lights, and knowledge, which such an occasion will procure. '

James Burrow Esq, Henry Cavendish Esq, and George Lewis Scott Esq elected auditors of the Treasurer's accounts

Three medals to be to be bestowed on St Andrew's Day next; to Edward Delaval FRS for his Experiments and Observations on the Agreement between the specific gravities of the several metals, and their colours when united to Glass, as well as those of other preparations; to Williwm Brownrigg MD FRS for an Experimental Enquiry into the Mineral, Elastic Spirit, or air contained in Spa Water, as well as into the Mephitic Qualities of this Spirit; and to the Honourable Henry Cavendish Esq FRS for his late curious experiments on Factitious Air.

Ordered the first copy of the Transactions since the Society took the printing over be to Charles Morton FRS. Mr Davies to purchase all the old stock in his custody and pay for it over two years; details of prices and discounts listed

Treasurer ordered by ballot to pay the bills of Bowyer, Printer; Mynde, Engraver; Unwin, Stationer amounting to £183-8-3d

' The President deliverd a plate of the Arms of the Society, for the sake of Impression to be inserted in the Volumes of Transactions as they are delivered to His Majesty from time to time. '
