AdminHistory | Denis Henry Desty was born in Southampton in 1923, and he Southampton University studying a degree in chemistry, and interrupted his studies to volunteer with the RAF during the Second World War. He was hired by British Petroleum in 1948, initially as a Technologist, and spent mch of his career there, eventually rising to a Senior Research Associate position by the time he retired due to ill health in 1981. He also held several visiting professorship appointments, first in 1978 at the Engineering Department of Surrey University and later at the Chemical Engineering and Chemical Technology Department of Imperial College between 1984 and 1986. He died in January 1994 after a long battle with cancer. |
