Engaged in the teaching of physics as well as in the organisation of scientific studies,and is anxious to promote the progress of science. Author of a memoir 'On the Determination of the Specific Resistance of Mercury in Absolute Measure' (Phil Trans, vol clxxxi, 1890). Author also of the following papers: - 'On the Calculation of the Co-efficient of Mutual Induction of a Circle and a Coaxal Helix' (Proc Phys Soc, vol x); 'On the Use of Lissajous Figures to determine a Rate of Rotation, and of a Morse Receiver to measure the Periodic Time of a Reed or Tuning-fork' (ibid); 'Suggestions towards a Determination of the Ohm.'
