Title | Taylor, William: certificate of election to the Royal Society |
Citation | Under his guidance his firm has attained a commanding position among lens manufacturers throughout the world and thereby has added greatly to the prestige of this country in optics. His study of works organisation, his skill in engineering design, and his experimental investigations have all been essential factors in this achievement. These investigations, covering all the operations to which opticians subject glass, have led to the adoption of novel methods of working and the construction of ingenious machines, and to the marked success of the firm in manufacturing lenses with economy and very high accuracy. |
