Title | Manton, Sidnie Milana: certificate of election to the Royal Society |
Description | Citation typed |
Citation | Distinguished for her studies in invertebrate embryology and functional morphology. Her work on the embryology of the Mysid crustacean, Hemimysis lamornae, is one of the most complete studies of arthropod embryology ever published. Her subsequent analysis of the development of Nebalia has largely established the phylogenetic position of this classical form. Her studies on Peripatus deal not only with its anatomy and early development but, in collaboration with other workers, with all its various physiological relationships. She has travelled widely on scientific expeditions and has worked also on corals and certain Hydrozoa. A list of papers is attached |
