Citation | Dr. Steacie has made important contributions to chemical kinetics and photochemistry. His work has been especially concerned with the elementary reactions of atoms and radicals with organic substances. In particular he has made extensive investigations of the elementary reactions of hydrocarbons, and o mercury and cadmium photosensitized reactions. He has published approximately 125 papers in this field, and is recognized as a leading authority on the subject. His book "Atomic and Free Radical Reactions" is the standard work on the subject. During the war he was Deputy Director of the U.K. - Canadian Atomic Energy Project. |
