Title | Kenner, George Wallace: certificate of election to the Royal Society |
Description | Citation typed |
Citation | Distinguished for his researches in organic chemistry. Following earlier work in the field of ribonucleoside synthesis Kenner was jointly responsible for the synthesis of flavin-adenine-dinucleotide, of cozymase, and of several other coenzymes. In this work he added notably to our knowledge of the behaviour of mixed anhydrides and has subsequently applied this knowledge to devise new and important methods in the field of polypeptide synthesis. Recently he has directed his attention to porphyrin chemistry, and has, in this field, also produced novel synthetic approaches. His work is characterised by deep theoretical insight coupled with high experimental skill. A list of publications is appended. |
