Date | 1972 |
Description | Citation typed |
Citation | Distinguished for his outstanding investigations on the mechanisms of catalysis in enzymes, especially flavoproteins, on which he is internationally recognized as a leading authority. He has studied a wide range of highly purified flavoproteins by a variety of physical methods, especially by ultra-violet, visible and electron-spin-resonance spectroscopy, combined with rapid-reaction techniques. In this way he has brought to light a remarkable variety of different mechanisms involved in the catalysis of biological oxidation reactions by this important class of enzymes, involving many different transient forms and complexes of flavins. His coherent and authoritative series of over 100 main papers, with many more general articles, forms a major contribution to enzymology. |
