Title | Evans, Dennis Frederick: certificate of election to the Royal Society |
Date | 1978 |
Description | Citation typed |
Citation | Dr. Evans made his early reputation with his studies on the excitation of triplet states in unsaturated organic molecules by molecular oxygen. Among his contributions to nuclear magnetic resonance, the "Evans Method" for the determination of magnetic susceptibilities in solution is now very widely used. Evans has made substantial contributions to the nature of Grignard species in solutions and recently has designed an ingenious and useful balance for the determination of susceptibilities that involves weighing the magnet rather than the sample. |
