Citation | Dimitri Kullmann is an outstanding neuroscientist who has made distinguished contributions to both cellular and clinical neuroscience. His cellular work includes the discovery of 'silent' synapses and the heterosynaptic action of neurotransmitters, as well as significant advances in the understanding of network oscillations in the brain. His clinical studies of neurological disease have elucidated the molecular basis of a variety of channelopathies and led to key insights into ion channel function. He has also pioneered a novel method for gene therapy of focal epilepsies. |
