Citation | Daniela Kühn is being nominated for her significant contributions, with Derek Osthus and others, to combinatorics. Kühn and her collaborators have solved a number of longstanding open questions about graphs, hypergraphs and tournaments. To give the flavour of just one among many, they proved a conjecture of Kelly from 1968, showing that every regular tournament has a decomposition into edge-disjoint Hamilton cycles. As with many of their works, the proof is extremely long and difficult and introduced many tools which have been used for other problems. Under her leadership, a thriving school in combinatorics has developed at Birmingham. |
