| Notes | Originally listed as being from Jacques Domenico Cassini. Information from researcher ' The letter EL C1. 85, supposed to be written by Jean Dominique Cassini to Hans Sloane (dated august 1700), is written by Jean-Dominique's son Jacques Cassini. As we can see also from the handwriting, it is the original one of the LBC. 12. 299...here we have the right Cassini ! I suppose, but I am not quite sure yet, that the same error could be have made also in the Index of the Sloane Manuscripts of the British Museum, where we can find, at page 99, a letter from Jean-Dominique to Sloane. Still, I consulted also the two documents LBC sup. 4.335 (original one ), LBO. SUP.4. 403 (copy) corresponding to A Letter of Mr. de la Hire of the Royal Academy of the Sciences at Paris, concerning a New Sort of Magnetical Compass, with Several Curious Magnetical Experiments (Paris le 26 avril 1687). In one of these two doc I found the wrong reference to the published version of the letter, the right one is Phil. Trans. 1686 num.16, pag. 344-351, avalaible also on line.
