TitleCorrespondence on discussion meetings of the Royal Institute of International Affairs
Date1954-1956
DescriptionMostly papers on three discussion meetings titled 'The Atomic Age'. Of the first meeting, ('Military Uses of Atomic Energy') held on 15 June 1954, a summary of the meeting is included in the file, recording the comments of Simon, Prof Patrick Blackett and Air Chief Marshal Sir Guy Garrod. Simon presented a paper at the second meeting ('The Peaceful Uses of Atomic Energy') held on 29 June 1954, though only Simon's draft notes are included. However, typescript summaries of both meetings survive, as does a typescript of questions submitted to the panel of speakers at the third meeting (13 July 1954).

Also included are invitations to Simon to meetings of the Royal Institute of International Affairs, on 'The H-Bomb:Massive Retaliation of Graduated Deterrents" (9 November 1955) and "The Disarmament Problem" (30 May 1956), with attachesd guestlists.
