Description | ' I wonder whether you got the letter I wrote to you some weeks ago to the place in Scotland where you were for a short holiday. I still have not more to do! In private affairs this is quite different, however. I am very busy with trying to help the woman of the interned people. Here they have taken away about 95% of the men, a few days ago also old Prof. Weigert and Jacobsthal! A not very efficient way of handling this problem. I hope they are more efficient in the other things. On account of the external and especially of this internal situation we have decided to send our children away. A few days ago they arrived in Toronto and we had a very nice telegram of the "foster parents". Partly we made use of the scheme of the University of Toronto, but we preferred to send them privately on the boa. Thus nobody can say that his children could not travel, because our took some berths of the 150 available for Oxford. - A few days ago my wife had the opportunity to go also and I thought it so much better for the children if she would be with them, that I persuaded her to join them. It was hard work, but I succeeded at last and I think we have done the right thing. Now she is on her way. I would be very glad to hear how you and your family are getting on.
Kindest regards to Mrs Born and yourself. ' |
