Majority of the correspondence is with Prof Max von Laue and runs from 1924-1955. The pre-Second World War correspondence includes letters from von Laue describing Germany under Nazi rule.

Correspondence with Labarthe is on 'La France Libre', a periodical devoted to French culture, to be produced by French emigres in the UK during the Second World War.
