TitleLetter from Howard Walter Florey to Chester S Keefer, National Research Council, Washington
Date6 December 1946
DescriptionThanks Keefer for collecting data - has incorporated facts in book (on antibiotics) - sorry (Hans) Clarke misunderstood the situation - distressing that difficulties have arisen over chemistry publication (re: penicillin) because of Du Vigneaud's article - gives detailed comments on notes from Merck & Co about penicillin production and supplying of penicillin to Oxford - fact that expectations re: supply of penicillin were not fulfilled, caused re-orientation of the work of his laboratory - comments on letter he wrote to Dr Richards on 5 May 1943 - supply position was not then as acute as in 1942, so he did not have the same interest in obtaining penicillin from American firms.
